Multilingual document control
How should photovoltaic module technical translations be controlled?
Keep source language, revision, terminology, numbers and approval status traceable in translated photovoltaic module documents.
Short answer
A translation should identify its source document and revision, preserve model codes, units, tables, warnings and defined terms, and state its approval status. Where source and translation conflict, the contract or documented language hierarchy should determine which version controls.
Multilingual document control
Link every translation to a source
Record source title, document number where available, language, revision or issue date and file hash or controlled location. A translated file without a source relationship can silently outlive the document it describes.
Protect technical tokens
Do not localize model codes, serial formats, units or symbols incorrectly. Review decimal separators, ranges, superscripts, polarity, table alignment, warning levels and references to drawings or standards.
Define review and precedence
Use technical and language review appropriate to the risk, record open terminology decisions and state whether the translation is informative or contractually approved. Do not imply that a translation expands the source scope.
A bilingual technical term and value log
A translation must preserve model identity, units and conditions while remaining linked to its source.
| Field or step | Example entry or evidence to record |
|---|---|
| Source control | Original file and language / issuer / printed revision / source page / translation file / translator and real review owner when available. |
| Term and value | Original term / agreed translation / model code unchanged / value and unit / decimal formatting / footnote and test condition / unresolved question. |
| Conflict handling | Do not resolve contradictory source tables through translation. Flag them to the issuer; identify which authorized document controls the transaction. |
Record template: replace prompts with project evidence and retain unresolved items. It does not authorize purchase, installation or release.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can machine translation be published without review?
Not for controlled technical use. The required review depth should reflect the document risk and purpose.
Should model names be translated?
Keep official model codes unchanged and translate only descriptive terms under the approved terminology.
What if two language versions differ?
Record the conflict, stop relying on the disputed text and follow the documented precedence and correction process.
