Factory inspection planning
How should a photovoltaic module factory inspection plan be prepared?
Define scope, evidence, sampling, hold points and reporting before a photovoltaic module factory inspection.
Short answer
A useful inspection plan is agreed before production or shipment. It identifies the exact product and order, applicable documents, inspection stages, sampling basis, acceptance criteria, witness or hold points, responsibilities and the report needed to close every finding.
Factory inspection planning
Freeze the inspection baseline
List the purchase order, model, power class, approved datasheet, drawings, bill of materials where contractually available, packaging requirements and inspection procedure. Inspectors should not have to infer the accepted product from unrelated files.
Connect checks to evidence
Separate document review, incoming-material records, process observations, finished-product tests, labeling, packaging and quantity reconciliation. For every check, state the record, sample, equipment or observation that supports the result.
Control findings to closure
Define how conforming, pending and nonconforming results are recorded; who can accept a deviation; and whether shipment may proceed. Photographs and test values should remain linked to the order, model, date and inspected sample.
An inspection hold-point schedule
Decide what evidence permits movement to the next stage before the visit.
Inspection line
Stage / characteristic / approved requirement and page / sample basis / method and equipment / record to retain.
Witness or hold
Mark observation, witness or hold as agreed; identify who must be notified and who can authorize continuation.
Finding closure
Finding ID / affected batch / correction evidence / retest when agreed / acceptance owner / shipment-release record.
Record template: replace prompts with project evidence and retain unresolved items. It does not authorize purchase, installation or release.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does a factory visit prove every unit is defect-free?
No. It provides evidence within the agreed scope and sampling plan, not a universal guarantee for every unit.
Can acceptance criteria be written during inspection?
They should be agreed beforehand; new issues can be documented and escalated through the approved process.
Who can release shipment?
Only the party authorized by the contract or inspection plan after required findings have been closed or formally accepted.
